Service Description

Reiki is a Japanese word from "Rei" meaning Universal and "Ki" meaning Life Force Energy. Reiki is classified by the National Institute of Health as an Energy Medicine under the Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) category. Reiki has many evidence-based studies showing its' efficaciousness in helping the body-mind tap into a state of regeneration & healing. Individuals are fully clothed as they lay in any desired position on my massage table while I apply very light touch from my hands to various parts of the body. I usually will hold my palms either together or separately on parts of the head and face for several minutes, moving to torso, arms & hands, belly, back, legs, & feet. You always have full choice of where or where not to be touched and Reiki can be done with the hands hovering slightly over the body as well. Most people find it very relaxing as ambient sound is enjoyed & oftentimes combined with aromatherapy. Therapy is hard work and sometimes when we show up, we just need another to be fully present without the pressure to get into the head and talk. Getting into the body is what somatic psychotherapy is all about. I never charge extra for Reiki, and anything that can increase your connection to your felt sense is what bottom-up treatment strategies are all about. Sometimes all you need is 5 minutes, and we can go longer as it feels right for you with the invitation to process anything that comes up during this experience. Eventhough there are plenty of studies indicating the essential need for caring touch, our society doesn't embrace many forms of nonsexual touch, much less healing touch. This healing energy is coming from source energy, or God, where I am just a conduit.
