Resources

Resources can be anything that supports, bolsters, or nourishes. They can be internal or external. The pages I have listed here tell you a bit more about the theoretical orientations & modalities that I use in my practice.

Trauma isolates, and when people start counseling, they usually don't have many friends or outlets (external resources). As individuals start shedding the layers of wounding, their true Self shines more & more. This light in the world attracts other lights, and friends & community naturally form.

My blog is where I have housed much information on my personal & professional aspects that influence my counseling style & orientation.

What To Do If You're Feeling:

Suggestions for interventions to aid in letting the emotion move through you

I oftentimes share with my clients that it is difficult to access that prefrontal cortex part of the brain when the limbic system is highly activated. That is, it can be hard to think when the basic emotions like anger, fear, disgust, sadness, happiness, and surprise are upon us.

Below are some suggestions of things to try when in the throes of a strong emotion that you want to honor while facilitating processing through it.

Since it is just a part of you that is feeling this way, it can always be helpful to take that sacred pause to see if you can identify the part of you that is feeling...

Many of these strategies can translate from emotion to emotion. The key thing is to think about the different types of "interventions" from the different domains of wellness:

  • Physical

  • Emotional

  • Intellectual/Cognitive

  • Spiritual

  • Relational/Social

  • Environmental

  • Financial

  • Occupational
